What should he fetch? A late 1st? Vanek has been awesome but think a lot of teams are not sure about him because of his play off numbers |

If Ladd was able to get a 1st last year, I see no reason why Vanek should not merit one as well.
I still don't trust Holland to do anything that makes sense or with competency, even with 2 first round picks (one possibly a top 5), sadly. |

The Vanek to CHI rumor seems to be a young defenseman and a young forward. Hawks are hosting the draft and seem not to be interested in moving their 1st round pick.
Would JVR and Motte get it done? |

Maybe...I think Forsling would be their first choice. |

Forsling is not happening, especially if Motte is included.
We have some decent D specs to move in a deal...Pokka, Gustafson, Svedberg, Dahlstrom...nice prospects, none will remind Wings fans of Lidstrom, but any would be a solid get as part of a deal.
The other player will be a pick or a forward...I guess Motte would draw interest. Like him A LOT. Would hate to see him moved, but he may be one that has to go, especially if we take Forsling off the table. Motte reminds me a little of a wing version of Phil Danault...high character, high motor, thought is not quite top 6 skill set, but can play and play well.
I would suggest Forsling is a prospect we will not move, I also don't see Alex Fortin being moved either. But any other? Yea probably. (Not including Hartman and Schmaltz in that since they are in Chicago) |

Yeah, quite sad you guys missed out on Chychrun last year because it was necessary to fight for a wild card spot |

That's Holland in a nutshell for you. Cares about a meaningless playoff streak more than anything, even if it included rebuilding the team. |

No.
Give up a 1st or Vanek goes to your competition. |

I hate the state of this team, but there's 30 other GMs in this league that would try to push for the playoffs if they were in Holland's situation.
Don't act like Holland is going rogue. |

Forsling is a bum.
Motte is a bum without Connor and Compher carrying him.
Debrincat is the only prospect that lands Vanek and that would be dumb for CHI. A 1st or GTFO. |

There is a difference between making a push for the playoffs and crippling your team for the next 5 years. |

If they would have just let Helm go in UFA and not sign Nielsen that would have been great. Chychrun and Hronek would have been very good defensive building blocks especially if they could add Liljegren in this draft. |

Except for the whole we got Hronek with a pick from the Datsyuk trade part. |

Let's just go back in time and draft Duncan Keith too.
I'm sure you were all about Hronek before the draft. |

Smith was a reach and Hronek was a skilled D man already playing in a pro league...

Were you calling for Hronek before the draft or not? I doubt it, Captain Hindsight. |
